Can I Give CLAT in Class 11?

The Common Law Admission Test or CLAT, is a significant examination for those aspiring to enter the field of law in India.

A common question that often arises is whether students in Class 11 can appear for the CLAT exam.

The answer is yes, Class 11 students can attempt the CLAT examination.

Eligibility Criteria for CLAT

  • No Age Limit: One of the key advantages of CLAT is that there is no upper age limit for candidates appearing for the Undergraduate (UG) Programme through CLAT 2024. This means that whether you are in Class 11 or 12, you can take the exam without any concerns about age restrictions.
  • Minimum Percentage of Marks: To be eligible for CLAT, you must secure a certain percentage of marks in your qualifying examination, which is typically your 10+2 or an equivalent exam. The specific criteria are as follows:
  • General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI Categories: You need a minimum of 45% marks or an equivalent grade.
  • SC/ST Categories: For candidates belonging to SC/ST categories, a minimum of 40% marks or equivalent is required.
  • Appearing for Qualifying Examination: If you are in Class 11 and planning to take the CLAT 2024 exam, you are eligible. Candidates who will be appearing for their qualifying examination in March/April 2024 can also sit for CLAT 2024. However, they must provide evidence of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they will lose their right to be considered for admission.
  • Result Submission: It’s important to note that the result of your qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) must be submitted at the time of admission. Failing to do so will render you ineligible for admission to the course you may have applied for.
