The Delhi High Court has allowed the release of the revised CLAT 2025 results after addressing discrepancies in the answer key. This decision follows an earlier order by a single judge, which directed the correction of two erroneous questions in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
A division bench led by Acting Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela reviewed the appeal filed by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) and upheld the single judge’s findings. The court determined there was no basis to halt the results and authorised their announcement.
Court’s Decision
The division bench emphasised that the single judge had thoroughly reviewed the disputed questions and found errors in the answer key. It stated, “We see no reason to interfere with the single judge’s assessment. You are free to release the results as revised. There will be no interim stay.”
With this ruling, the consortium can now declare the results in alignment with the corrected answer key. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for January 7, 2025.
The Dispute in Detail
The case originated from a petition filed by a CLAT aspirant, who questioned the accuracy of certain answers in the test’s official answer key, published on December 7, 2024. The petitioner argued that the errors could unfairly impact candidates’ scores.
On December 20, a single judge reviewed the plea and concluded that the answer key contained two mistakes. The court ordered the consortium to rectify the errors and revise the results, emphasising the importance of fairness in competitive examinations.
Consortium’s Challenge Rejected
In response to the single judge’s ruling, the consortium sought to appeal the decision, requesting a stay on the order. However, the division bench denied their appeal, allowing the revised results to be announced without further delay.
What Happens Next?
Candidates can expect the revised CLAT 2025 results to be published soon, providing clarity after weeks of uncertainty. The legal proceedings will continue, with the next court session set for early January.
The CLAT results are a crucial step for aspiring law students, as they determine admissions to prestigious law universities across the country. Keep following for more updates on this case.
